Depicting the bust of the first King of the 30th Dynasty, Nectanebo I, wearing a nemes-headcloth with a double looped uraeus, its tail extending back over the crown, with finely-modeled ears and facial features, the reverse preserving some grid lines.

The grid lines are an aid to verify symmetry. A Sculptor’s model is a relatively small preliminary model or sketch. In this instance, a three dimensional study for a sculptural project, a demonstration piece, or teaching. Parallels have been excavated in temple deposits further suggesting they may have served as dedicatory offerings to the gods.

Nectanebo I was the founder of 30th Dynasty, the last native family to rule before the Persian and Macedonian conquests.
