Depicted emerging from a wreath of vine leaves, the naturalistically rendered and finely modeled bust of a young boy with its head slightly titled right, composed of thick comma-shaped locks and frontal centrally parted hair, his large almond-shaped eyes with incised pupils, thin lips, chubby cheeks and rounded chin, a piercing at top of the head with two suspension loops emerging from the hair for the now missing lid, the splayed base with ridges.
Formerly in the late collection of Mr. Joseph S. Melchione (1948-2012), a Southern California resident with a passion for antiquities, photography, art and ocean preservation. He was a lawyer by trade, his law firm was the first of its kind to serve the credit union industry, serving more than 350 credit unions nationwide. Mr. Melchione was regarded as a credit union industry icon.
