The finely modelled sacred bird of the moon god Thoth, depicted seated in recumbent form with his legs tucked beneath him, his gently curved ‘S’-shaped neck fronted by a long downturned beak, the eyes recessed for now-missing inlays, the tail feathers and leg markings carefully engraved, the beak incised along its curve, the body in two-tone brown on reddish patina, with four bronze tangs for attachment.

The ibis was considered a manifestation of Thoth, god of the moon, writing, wisdom and all intellectual activity. Often depicted with an ibis head and human body. In the Late Period and Ptolemaic Period, ibises were bred throughout Egypt to be slaughtered, mummified and offered as votives to Thoth. With or without the mummy, the ibis-form figure would have likely been an offering to the god

Intact and very fine as shown, minor nicks on the surface, engraved details very fine and crisp.

At Medusa-art.com, we believe that anyone who desires to acquire antiquities should be able to do so. We are passionate about this belief and offer interest-free installments of up to 10 months on particular items (based on item value). HOW IT WORKS

    Payment plans are available on orders starting at $900.
    A deposit of $300 or 10%, which ever is greater, of the total price is required upon purchase.
    The balance must be paid in installments of at least $300 or 10% per months, whichever is greater.
    Select your monthly payment term from the dropdown menu at checkout.
    Title remains the property of Medusa Ancient Art, Inc. until payment is made in full.
    Your order will ship once payment is made in full. 


NOTE: Some items do not qualify for payment plans. All payment plan orders must be paid within 10 months from the order date. Exceeding this tiem frame will result in forfeiture. To get your order faster, you can pay-off your order in full or increase your monthly payments at any time.

REFUNDS & EXCHANGES on PAYMENT PLANS

You may cancel your payment plan purchase within three (3) months, a 15% restocking-fee will apply. We do not offer refunds or exchanges on items purchased on the payment plan. However, we provide our lifetime money-back guarantee of authenticity. If the piece you purchase is not as represented by Medusa-art.com, you will be refunded the purchase price in full – it’s that simple.
