Reddish-brown steatite scarab, the base decorated with a large winged beetle, a hes-vase (the hieroglyph for “praise” or “favor”) flanked by two protective uraei, and a neb-basket (“lord” or “all”).
Although these symbols were selected more for their amuletic powers than to convey a grammatical sentence, they can conceivably be translated as “Khepri, lord of praise” or “All the favor of Khepri.”
J. Cornelius Collection of Scarabs, Indiana, formed in the early 70s through the mid 80s.
Acquired from Harmer, Rooke Numismatists, ltd. Accompanied by HRN Certificate no. 70208-D dated January 10, 1980.
