Black glazed steatite composition votive offering depicting Sobek as a crocodile, well modeled and finely incised details, with traces of red pigment to the mouth, his head raised on a triangular support, on an integral base.
Associated with the Nile crocodile, Sobek was a water deity with pharaonic power, fertility, and military prowess, but served additionally as a protective deity particularly for protection against the dangers presented by the Nile river.
