The blue glazed composition baboon-headed god, sacred to the moon god Thoth, depicted squatting, the elongated snout with finely incised mouth and nostrils, recessed eyes beneath prominent arched brows, and wearing a full mummiform garment, his cape-like mass of fur composed of echeloned vertically-striated lappets against a horizontally-striated ground on either side.

Thoth, later identified by the Greeks with Hermes, was the Lord of Time, of writing, knowledge and wisdom.

Probably part of a votive model clepsydra or water clock, an ancient time-measuring device worked by a flow of water, cf. Gifts of the Nile, Ancient Egyptian Faience, pp. 232, no. 132.

Condition:
The base and part of the dorsal column damaged.

    The balance must be paid in installments of at least $300 or 10% per months, whichever is greater.

    Your order will ship once payment is made in full. 


NOTE: Some items do not qualify for payment plans. All payment plan orders must be paid within 10 months from the order date. Exceeding this tiem frame will result in forfeiture. To get your order faster, you can pay-off your order in full or increase your monthly payments at any time.

REFUNDS & EXCHANGES on PAYMENT PLANS

You may cancel your payment plan purchase within three (3) months, a 15% restocking-fee will apply. We do not offer refunds or exchanges on items purchased on the payment plan.
