Turquoise glazed amulet of a Menat counterpoise, depicting Sekhmet facing left, holding a papyrus scepter, the roundel in a criss-cross pattern, with a ribbed suspension ring above.
The Menat was used as a counterpoise, usually hung on a necklace at the back of the neck, often worn by the priestesses of Hathor. This protective amulet was common practice from the New Kingdom to the Ptolemaic Period.
