A well modelled small black steatite head of a Nubian, perhaps a slave, his coiffure arranged in locks with incised crisscross grid-lines, his eyes indented with marking to the brows, with large nose and full mouth, and a fragmented pillar at his back, pierced horizontally through the neck and vertically at base.
Nubia is a region along the Nile river located in what is today northern Sudan and southern Egypt. It was the seat of one of the earliest civilizations of ancient Africa.
